Temperature Measurement

Our temperature transmitters make measuring temperature easier for a wide range of applications. With options for subsea temperature measurement or completely submerged in a chosen liquid making installation effortless.

Temperature measurement for demanding applications

Accurate temperature measurement underpins safe operation, quality control, and efficient automation across a wide range of industries. Stork temperature solutions are built around temperature transmitters that make it easier to measure temperature reliably in real world conditions, whether you need a fixed installation, a compact transmitter, or a sensor designed to operate while fully immersed in a liquid. The full range sits within our temperature measurement portfolio, with options that support both industrial and environmental monitoring use cases.

What is a temperature transmitter?

A temperature transmitter takes a raw sensor signal, for example from an RTD or thermistor, conditions it, and outputs a stable, usable signal for control systems, indicators, or data logging. This is especially valuable where cable runs are long, electrical noise is present, or you need a standard output format for integration across multiple assets.

If you are comparing formats, outputs, and installation styles, our range of temperature transmitters is a good place to start.

Submersible and subsea temperature measurement

Where the measuring point is in a liquid, a submersible transmitter can simplify installation by allowing the sensor to be placed directly in the media and left in position for continuous monitoring. This is common in applications such as tanks, rivers, reservoirs, and other water or process fluid environments where stable, repeatable readings matter over time.

For long term underwater temperature monitoring using low power digital communications, the STT series is designed specifically for those harsh, permanently immersed deployments. The article on the STT-28 SDI-12 submersible temperature transmitter explains why sensor construction, media compatibility, and signal stability become critical once a device is left underwater for years.

Integrating temperature into a wider measurement system

Temperature is often measured alongside other process variables, particularly where compensation improves accuracy or where trend data is used to detect changes in system behaviour. In level measurement, for example, temperature can be used to improve density based calculations when applying hydrostatic measurement methods within the level measurement range. In pressure applications, combined measurement can also be useful, and the ATM/T.1ST dual output pressure and temperature transmitter is an example of a single device designed to deliver both values from the media.

Where you also need to display, scale, or log temperature readings locally or across multiple channels, our instrumentation range includes indicators and controllers designed to work alongside sensors and transmitters.

Choosing the right temperature solution

A few specification points typically make selection simpler:

  • Required temperature range and accuracy
  • Response time needed, especially where temperature changes quickly
  • Media compatibility and installation environment, including immersion
  • Output and integration needs, including analogue and digital interfaces
  • Long term stability requirements, particularly for remote monitoring deployments
