Overview and Applications of the DS 400 P Electronic Pressure Switch
The DS400P Pressure Switch offers a wide range of features and capabilities. With a nominal pressure range from 0 … 100 mbar up to 0 … 40 bar, it is suitable for various applications. The switch comes with either one or two independent PNP contacts, which can be freely configured based on the requirements. Additionally, it provides an analogue output with options for 2-wire (4 … 20 mA) or 3-wire (4 … 20 mA), and other output types can be requested. One of its special characteristics is the 4-digit LED display, which allows for clear indication of measured values.
The display module is rotatable and configurable, providing flexibility for different installation orientations. The switch also offers configurable contacts, allowing users to set switch on/off points, hysteresis/window mode, and switch on/off delay. For applications requiring a hygienic design, a hygienic version is available. Furthermore, optional versions include the IS-version Ex ia, which is intrinsically safe for gases and dusts, as well as customer-specific versions to cater to individual needs.
Applications
In the food industry, hygiene and safety are paramount. The DS 400 P Electronic Pressure Switch is designed with a stainless steel housing and hygienic process connections, making it ideal for environments where cleanliness is critical. It is used to monitor and control pressure in processes such as pasteurization, bottling, and mixing. The switch’s robust construction allows it to withstand frequent cleaning cycles and exposure to aggressive cleaning agents, ensuring reliable operation and compliance with food safety standards. Its precise pressure monitoring helps maintain consistent product quality and process efficiency.
In pharmaceutical applications, maintaining sterile conditions and precise process control is essential. The DS 400 P is well-suited for use in pharmaceutical manufacturing due to its high accuracy, hygienic design, and compatibility with CIP/SIP (Clean-in-Place/Sterilize-in-Place) procedures. It is commonly used to monitor pressure in reactors, filtration systems, and filling lines, where even minor deviations can impact product quality or safety. The electronic pressure switch ensures reliable and repeatable measurements, supporting strict regulatory compliance and helping to guarantee the integrity of pharmaceutical products.
