ME 500 Ceramic Pressure Sensor

Precision pressure sensing for harsh environments

ME500 pressure sensors are built with a ceramic base plate and a flush diaphragm, operating on the piezoresistive principle. A Wheatstone bridge is screen-printed on one side of the ceramic diaphragm, facing the internal cavity, while the opposite side is exposed directly to the measured medium for true flush pressure measurement.

Thanks to the excellent chemical resistance of Al₂O₃ ceramic (including aggressive gases and many solvents and acids), no additional protection is normally required. ME500 sensors are thermally compensated using laser-adjustable PTC resistors, and the ceramic construction delivers high linearity across the measurement range, helping reduce hysteresis to a minimum.

Highlights and Applications: ME 500 Pressure Sensor

The ME500 Pressure Sensor is designed for accurate pressure measurement in demanding environments where media compatibility, abrasion resistance, and long-term stability matter. Its flush diaphragm design supports direct exposure to the process medium, helping minimise issues linked to clogged ports or dead volumes.

With multiple nominal pressure ranges from 0.5 bar to 800 bar, and support for gauge, absolute, and sealed gauge configurations (range-dependent), the ME500 fits a wide variety of industrial pressure measurement requirements. The sensor delivers a mV/V differential output from a piezoresistive Wheatstone bridge, making it well suited for integration into OEM assemblies and transmitter designs.

Its ceramic Al₂O₃ diaphragm provides strong resistance against many aggressive substances, often removing the need for extra protective coatings. Thermal compensation and ceramic-based linearity help maintain dependable performance over temperature and across the measurement range.
