The IP (Ingress Protection) rating of CMC Multicon data loggers varies depending on the device’s configuration, particularly the USB port placement and additional protective features. Understanding these ratings is crucial for selecting the right model for your environmental needs.

IP Rating Variations #
- Front USB Host Configuration
- IP Rating: IP 40
- This basic configuration offers moderate protection against solid objects larger than 1mm but limited protection against water ingress.
- Front USB Host with Protective Door
- IP Rating: IP 54
- Configuration: Front USB Host + transparent door with key (Model: STD-99/141)
- This setup provides enhanced protection against dust and splashing water from all directions.
- Standard Front with Rear USB
- IP Rating: IP 65
- This configuration offers the highest level of protection among the three options, with complete dust-tight sealing and protection against low-pressure water jets from any direction. The CMC-N16 wall-mounted version is IP65 by default, regardless of the USB ports.
Choosing the Right Configuration #
When selecting a CMC Multicon data logger, consider the environmental conditions of your application. For dusty or potentially wet environments, the IP 65 rated option with a rear USB might be the most suitable choice. However, if easy front access to the USB port is necessary and the device will be in a relatively clean and dry location, the front USB options may be more appropriate.
