What is the port size and dead space volume of the UPS-HSR pressure data logger?

The UPS-HSR pressure data logger’s G1/4″ and 1/4″ NPT male pressure ports have an internal diameter of 4mm. An important parameter to consider in these types of devices is the dead space volume – the unoccupied volume within the pressure port. This parameter can greatly influence the accuracy and reliability of the measurements performed, particularly in applications dealing with small quantities of fluid or gas.

Dead space volume in these ports varies depending on the pressure range. For instance, with pressure ranges of 16 Bar and above, the dead space volume ranges from 0.3 to 0.5 cm³. For pressures below 3 Bar, the dead space volume is slightly reduced, ranging from 0.3 to 0.35 cm³.

Understanding the concept of dead space volume is crucial in applications where specific flow rates or volumes of liquid or gas are being measured. Especially when dealing with media that contains particulates, the dead space can potentially lead to blockages or clogging, particularly when the material is viscous. Blockages can cause pressure fluctuations and inaccuracies in data logging, reducing the efficiency and reliability of measurements.
