Product Highlights
The SIN8 module is designed to efficiently monitor eight binary voltage inputs through the RS-485 connection. Its primary application lies in distributed control and visualisation systems. The device leverages the standard Modbus protocol transmission functions to provide access to device registers, including address, input state, and device ID.
With the SIN-8, all operational features can be accessed and utilised via the RS-485 connection, enabling seamless integration with various visualisation software or compatible MultiCon controllers. To ensure accurate data representation, the module employs an internal digital filter implemented in the firmware. This filter effectively eliminates signal oscillations caused by contacts bouncing in mechanical sensors.
It’s important to note that the filter comes with its default setting turned off, allowing users to activate it based on their specific requirements. The SIN8 module combines reliability, flexibility, and ease of use, making it an ideal choice for monitoring multiple binary voltage inputs in diverse control systems.
Features
The binary inputs module is designed to facilitate the monitoring and integration of digital signals within automation systems. It serves as a reliable interface for collecting binary (on/off) signals from various field devices, making it a versatile component in industrial and building automation.
With 8 independent voltage inputs, the module allows users to connect up to eight separate digital signals. Each input operates independently, enabling the monitoring of multiple devices or sensors simultaneously without interference, which is ideal for complex installations requiring multi-point data acquisition.
The module supports RS-485 / Modbus RTU communication, a widely used industrial protocol. This feature ensures seamless integration with other Modbus-compatible devices and systems, allowing for robust and reliable data exchange over long distances and in electrically noisy environments.
A key safety and reliability feature is the galvanic separation of the digital inputs from the module supply voltages. This isolation protects both the module and connected devices from voltage spikes, ground loops, and electrical noise, thereby enhancing system stability and safeguarding sensitive electronics.
To ensure signal integrity, the module incorporates an internal digital filter. This filter helps to eliminate spurious pulses and electrical noise that may cause false triggering of inputs, ensuring that only valid and stable signals are processed by the system.
The signalling of inputs logic status and RS-485 is achieved through dedicated indicators. These visual cues provide immediate feedback on the current state of each input and the communication status, making diagnostics and troubleshooting much more straightforward for operators and technicians.
For ease of use, the module features LEDs for module operation and Modbus transmission signalling. These LEDs clearly indicate the operational status of the module itself as well as the activity on the Modbus network, offering at-a-glance confirmation that the system is functioning as intended.
Finally, input signals connected by means of the socket-plug connectors ensures quick and secure wiring. These connectors simplify installation and maintenance, allowing for fast connection or disconnection of input signals without the need for specialized tools, which is especially valuable in environments where downtime must be minimized.
